Fashion Houston 5

One of the main reasons why I started this blog, was to share and discover everything the great city of Houston has to offer and the incredible local talent you can find in almost any field. Definitely fashion is one of them.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the most important Fashion Show in Houston, Fashion Houston 5. This event is organized once a year with the idea of presenting the new collections of famous designers, but at the same time to give local designers a chance to portray their work.

When you arrive at the event, the red carpet at the majestic Wortham Center greets you with its sumptuous architecture that was designed by Eugene Aubry. This theater is the permanent home of the Houston Opera and the Ballet of Houston and was the perfect stage for this show.

The collections I liked the most, were the ones by Rubin Singer with its geometrical cuts combining elegance and originality.

As well as the 2015 Spring-Summer collection by Naeem Khan with a lot of colorful embroidered sequin.

In my opinion, the ones who won the night were definitely the Houston Art Institute students, especially the Athletic Cubism collection by Paola Contreras. Her brand is called Inclán Fashion and her designs combine a sporty and sophisticated look, which makes it real fun, and are inspired by the cubism phase of Picasso. The story of this talented designer is just starting. She is a young woman born in Houston from Mexican parents and she just graduated from the Houston Art Institute a year ago. Yesterday while walking on the runway next to her designs, she transmitted her energy and charisma to everyone there and the emotion we could see in her eyes, I’m sure will push her to be successful for several years in the future. Congratulations Paola!

Yo Mariana think that attending this type of events is the perfect plan to go out with friends if you’re thinking of doing something different, because on top of having a lot of fun, you’ll be able to learn a bit more about upcoming fashion trends and will be able to discover new designers with fun and innovative approaches. You can still go tomorrow, so if you want to attend, buy your tickets in this link Fashion Houston 5.
