Houston with your Outdoor-Loving Friend
/To commemorate Earth Day, today I share with all of you my favorite places in Houston to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors. Spring is the perfect time of year to go out and enjoy a day of outdoor fun, so from a Japanese garden to a modern urban park, Houston has it all, here are some of my favorite spots:
McGovern Centennial Gardens
These gardens are located in Hermann Park and were built in 2014 to commemorate the one hundred years of this iconic park in Houston. McGovern Centennial Gardens has a small hill where you can climb to the top by a spiral path and from there you can enjoy a spectacular view of the entire park and the Miller Outdoor Theater. The park has more than 400 trees and all kinds of flowers and plants and has become one of my favorite places to spend a day outdoors with the family.
Japanese Garden
Each corner of this park offers original and colorful spaces in a Japanese style and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in Houston. Japanese Garden was designed by the famous architect Ken Nakajima, and it radiates serenity, peace and a great variety of trees and plants to enjoy during a wonderful stroll around.
Buffalo Bayou
One of my favorite outdoor spots is the Buffalo Bayou, where you can enjoy amazing activities with your family or friends. The park offers ecological tours, kayaking or even wellness walks, which consist of receiving a talk of wellness and health during a beautiful tour of the Bayou.
Levy Park
This park is located in the Upper Kirby district and it’s a true urban paradise with activities for all ages. Levy Park has a wonderful architecture and design. The park is very innovative, has lots of color and fun activities to spend a spectacular afternoon outdoors. The park has tables, chairs and rocking chairs to sit and enjoy a picnic or watch your children play, it also has a fun dog park so you can bring your hairy friend as well!
So now you know, during this wonderful time of year, go out with your family, friends, and pets to enjoy our beloved planet.
